Joseph Ferdinand3 Klein (Nicholas2, Jean Nicolas1) was born 1 August 1900 at Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, the son of Nicholas and Mary (Wester) Klein. His birth is not recorded in Fond du Lac County birth records. He was baptized 23 August 1900 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic church at 83 East Second Street, Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin by Reverend M. J. Taugher. His sponsors were Ferdinand Diederich and Tillie Wester, an uncle and an aunt. See the baptism records of the church which is the source of information about his birth as well as his baptism. His parents were living at 195 First Street in Fond du Lac when the 1900 census was taken on 7 June. See National Archives microcopy T 623, roll 1788, v 21, enumeration district 24, sheet 9.

He died 19 October 1964, age 64, at St. Alphonsus hospital at Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin of an acute myocardial infarction. The funeral was held 21 October 1964 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 117 East Van Buren Street, Port Washington, Wisconsin, and he is buried in St. Mary's cemetery there. His death is recorded in Ozaukee County death records, v 24, no. 219.

He married Lorraine Marcella Hubing 12 September 1928 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church, Lake Church, Town of Belgium, Ozaukee County. Reverend A. J. Huepper presided. Witnesses were Alexander John Klein, his brother, and Elinor Hubing, her sister. Their marriage is recorded in the marriage register of the church. Lorraine Marcella Hubing was born Thursday 20 March 1902 at 9 p.m. at Belgium, Town of Belgium, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Nicholas and Mary Theresa (Gilles) Hubing. Her birth is recorded in Ozaukee County birth records, v 9, p 7. She was baptized at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church, Lake Church. See the baptism records of the church.

She died 7 December 1988, age 86 of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease at Lynn Shores Manor nursing home at 340 Lynn Shores Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia. The funeral was held 12 December 1988 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church, Port Washington, and she is buried in St. Mary's cemetery there. Her death is recorded in Commonwealth of Virginia death records, no. 228-1277.

Joseph Ferdinand Klein attended elementary schools at Holy Cross and Port Washington and high school in Port Washington. He also studied mechanical engineering and mathematics at the Milwaukee School of Engineering at Milwaukee. He studied accounting through correspondence courses from Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Until 1952, he was employed as secretary-treasurer and purchasing agent of Kwick-Mix Concrete Mixer Co., a subsidiary of Koehring Corporation, at Port Washington. He then established an accounting and tax service. In conjunction with this service, he later was employed half-days at Modern Equipment Co., at Newburg, a small town in Washington County which is a few miles west of Port Washington.

Lorraine Klein was a member of the Christian Mothers and Altar society, the Third Order of St. Francis, and the Daughters of Isabella.

The Kleins resided at 756 North Milwaukee Street, Port Washington 53074.
