He married Nancy Ann Hansen 29 June 1991 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church, 117 East Van Buren Street, Port Washington, Ozaukee County. Reverend Tom Biersack presided. Witnesses were be Jim Thomas and Ann Keller.

Nancy Ann Hansen was born 7 November 1966 at Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Paul Matthew and Joan Mary (Goeser) Hansen. See Ozaukee County birth records, v 67, no. 291.

She graduated from University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse in May 1990.

Jim graduated from University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse, as well.

He has been a pattern maker at Gartland Foundry in Waukesha, Wisconsin since 1989.

Nancy has been working as an elementary school teacher at Milwaukee Public Schools, since 1990.

The Petersons reside in Port Washington.
